Busy Summer For Emerging Marine Artist, Alex Suescun

After spending the better part of 11 summers traveling from Texas to North Carolina to film TV shows or compete in redfish tournaments, Alex Suescun is enjoying the opportunity to again fly fish for tarpon, his favorite gamefish, during the May-June migration in Florida waters.

But it has not been all fun and games for the former pro angler since he stepped away from tournaments and his long running TV show, Tarpon Bay Tales. In fact, Alex has actually stayed quite busy working on new art, adding some shows to his 2012 event schedule, and delivering artwork to galleries and fishing tourney organizers.

For starters, aside from awarding Alex's art to its winning anglers, the organizing committee of the Keymorada Invitational tournament (to benefit the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America) chose one of his pieces for the cover of their yearbook.

Marine Artist, Alex Suescun, Receives Special Recognition At International Nature Art Competition

The Light, Space & Time online gallery just released the highly anticipated results of its recent Nature Art competition. The event drew vast interest across the U.S. and beyond, as 229 artists from 35 different states and 15 other countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom, submitted a total of 829 entries.

Initially the competition only offered awards for 1st through 5th place, but due to the high volume and the outstanding quality of the artwork submitted, the organizers also added 5 Honorable Mention awards, plus a group of Special Recognition awards.

The official press release from the Light Space & Time gallery explained that any of the artists in the Special Recognition group could have easily been included in the upper rank of the winning entries, as their art was also exceptional.

Gamefish Art Exhibit At Rookery Bay Museum In Naples, Fl

Sept. 10 through Nov. 9 Florida Fish and Game Art Fusion exhibit
Miami-based artist, angler and television producer and host Capt. Alex Suescun shows 27 works on canvas and fine art paper. Suescun, a former Cape Coral resident, is a former professional redfish angler and self-taught graphic artist and illustrator, best known as the executive producer and host of the saltwater fishing television show Tarpon Bay Tales, which aired nationwide on the Sportsman Channel, Fox Sports Net, Comcast Sports Southeast and Sun Sports. Suescun often incorporated his own still photography and illustrations in the graphics of his show, which led him to form his art business.
